We built a complete digital ecosystem designed to transform Guarded Harvest's operations and amplify their community impact.
Phase 1: Digital Strategy & Discovery
We started by deeply understanding Guarded Harvest's mission, operational phases, and stakeholder ecosystem. We mapped out their workflows, from field assessments in the Great Rift Valley to partner coordination with global corporations, and envisioned a digital solution that would:
Unify Operations: Bring all coordination, communication, and resource management into a single, integrated platform.
Communicate Complexity Clearly: Translate their multi-phase strategy (Phases 1-4, from understanding challenges to pre-planting solutions) into an accessible digital narrative.
Empower Staff & Partners: Provide intuitive tools to manage programs, events, and outreach effortlessly.
Engage the Global Community: Create a welcoming online space where donors, partners, and supporters can easily understand the mission, follow progress, and get involved.
Phase 2: Custom Web Platform Development
We designed and developed a custom, user-friendly web platform that serves as the digital home for The Guarded Harvest Project. The platform features:
Mission & Impact Storytelling: A clear, compelling presentation of their mission to empower smallholder farmers and combat food insecurity in the Great Rift Valley.
Program & Phase Management: Easy tools to showcase complex, multi-step projects (e.g., Phase 1 - Steps 1-4, with timelines and goals for each step).
Partner Showcase: A dedicated section to highlight and communicate with major global partners like Hawx Pest Control, Syngenta Crop Protection, and others.
Resource Hub: A centralized system for distributing agricultural knowledge, educational materials, and project updates.
Stakeholder Coordination: Tools to manage communication and reporting between partners, on-the-ground teams, and the organization's leadership (e.g., Daniel Baldwin, VP of Technical Services at Hawx).
Global Engagement Hub: A welcoming, informative space designed to build trust and keep the global community informed and connected to the project's progress.
Phase 3: Legacy System Migration
We carefully migrated Guarded Harvest's existing data from paper records and legacy tools into the new digital platform. This included:
Data Cleansing & Structuring: Ensuring all information—from field assessment data to partner contacts—was accurate and organized for the new system.
Minimizing Disruption: Planning the migration to ensure continuity of their operations and services.
User Training: Providing comprehensive training to the organization's leadership and key volunteers to ensure a smooth transition.
Phase 4: UX/UI Design for Mission-Driven Organizations
We designed the platform with a focus on empathy, clarity, and global accessibility:
Warm, Trustworthy Design: The visual design reflects Guarded Harvest's mission and deep connection to the Great Rift Valley, using imagery and narratives that build trust with the global community.
Intuitive Navigation: Clear, simple paths for visitors to understand the complex agricultural challenges (pests, economic hurdles, post-harvest losses) and the organization's multi-step solutions.
Mobile-Responsive Experience: Full accessibility across all devices, ensuring that partners, donors, and supporters in Kenya and globally can connect seamlessly.
Phase 5: Launch & Ongoing Support
We launched the new platform and provided:
Post-Launch Support: Ongoing technical support and optimization.
Performance Monitoring: Tracking engagement, program participation, and global reach to continuously improve.
